A: Kwan Yin is first of all, the pre-eminent goddess in all of Asia. Her name literally means ‘observe’ (quan) ‘sound’ (yin) and is translated as "She Who Hears the Cries of the World." You find her in China, Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Burma, Thailand, America and other countries. She is the Celestial Bodhisattva of Complete Mercy, Compassion and Fertility, particularly difficult fertility.

A: Kwan Yin is considered a bodhisattva because She has chosen to put off Her complete unexcelled, perfect enlightenment for the benefit of beings everywhere, and will wait as long as there is one being who is not enlightened. Such is the compassion of a bodhisattva and such is Kwan Yin's compassion
